About
Hello, I am so thankful and excited you have found our page. My name is Karina Houghton, I am a loving, kind, determined, compassionate, and resilient woman. If you have gotten this far, I have a feeling you are too (and the men who may be reading as well). I am also a mother, the founder of Conscious Roots, a Life Coach, and a writer.

I come from humble beginnings which is undeniably one of the things I am most grateful for. My past, as yours, was bright and beautiful at times, while others, dark and painful. For many years, I was stuck in a frame of mind, in part ingrained in us as women, and the rest by how we perceive our environment and experiences. By the time I realized it, I had lived my life for others, fulfilling only their visions for me-- never my own. It was like I was trapped in somebody else's life, and I knew something had to change; it had to be me. Not the job, not the city I lived in, not my partner-- it had to be me. I needed to go way back to those humble beginnings and find out who I was. It was a tough pill to swallow, but it was the first step in my journey.
Some time passed and I started actively pursuing personal growth and development. As soon as I did that, my understanding of me as a person finally started to appear just like the roots on a tree. It was like a snowball, once I started implementing one thing in my life something else would follow and my vision and clarity would become stronger and stronger. I am going to clarify, this didn't happen overnight, and it wasn't easy, but it was worth it to me to put in the hard work to grow. I have always felt that I am the one in my family that is going to change the way generations ahead of me live, that I am destined to be great. It's that same feeling that always pushed me even when I didn't want to do something.

As I grew, my vision grew, and as my vision grew, things in my life started aligning themselves for that vision to begin to materialize. All I had to do was get up and choose me, my growth, and my vision. Once I started choosing myself, I also noticed something else, one of the biggest gifts this journey has given me. Do you remember that dark and painful past I have? It became another thing that I am undeniably the most grateful for, because without it I wouldn't have had the resiliency, the courage, or the desire to help you grow your roots and focus on your future, not your past.

If you resonate with any of this, you are not alone, this is your community, we are here, I am here to serve you. Let's grow together, create our futures, and make a difference.

With Love & Gratitude
